It's Time to Register for Kindergarten
Welcome to Kindergarten! This is an exciting time for both you and your student. Kindergarten is a wonderful experience and your student’s next phase on their journey of learning.
For Junior Kindergarten (JK), children must be four years old in 2026 (born in 2022). For Senior Kindergarten (SK), children must be five years old in 2026 (born in 2021). If your child is currently in Year 1 (JK), you do not need to register again for Year 2 (SK).
Step 1
Before beginning registration, visit the website of our transportation partner Tri-Board Student Transportation Services to verify the school your child will attend. This will be your child's home school.
Step 2
Complete the online registration form or print a paper copy.
-
Online Kindergarten Registration The first time you register with HPEDSB, you will need to create an account in the Aspen Information System. Please note: At this time mobile devices/browsers are not supported for the online registration system. Please use a laptop or desktop computer to complete registration, as described in the instruction guide Instructions for registering students using the online portal (Pdf)
-
If you are unable to register online, use the Printable or Fillable Registration Form. Print the form, complete it, then contact the school office to arrange a day/time to drop it off and show the required documentation (listed in Step 3). If you prefer to use the fillable PDF, save it once completed, then email it to the school office.
Step 3
Once online registration is completed, parents/guardians must provide the school office with copies of the following documentation:
-
birth certificate* or passport as official proof of the child's date of birth and legal name;
-
immunization card;
-
confirmation of the parent/guardian name and home address, such as a current Agreement of Purchase and Sale; current home phone/cable/internet invoice; current utility invoice; current property tax notice; current lease agreement; and
-
legal custody orders, if applicable.
Please contact the school office to arrange a day/time to provide the required documentation.
*To apply for a birth certificate, follow these steps:
-
If you have access to a computer and a major credit card, visit ServiceOntario to complete an on-line application. Submit the form and pay on-line using a credit card. The birth certificate will be delivered to you.
-
If you do not have access to a computer, contact your local MPP's office.
Step 4
Please complete the HPEDSB Family Questionnaire (pdf) to help us learn about your child so we can best support their transition to school. Completed questionnaires can be emailed or taken directly to schools when submitting the required documentation detailed above in Step 3.
